Join Wellesley Friends of Art for a Studio Tour and Traditional Persian Dinner with Hadieh Shafieh

November 1, 2015
4:00-7:00 pm
Silver Spring (address provided to attendees only)

Hadieh Shafie was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1969. Currently based in the United States, the artist constructs intricate designs with low-relief paper sculpture. Her compositions are reminiscent of traditional Middle Eastern art, while she hides hand-written and printed Farsi text within the folds of elaborate paper spirals. Both process-oriented and impossibly refined, Shafie’s skillful works are often monumental in scale, overwhelming the viewer with a visual feast of color. Click here for more information on the artist from Leila Heller Gallery.

The artist will host us on a tour of her workshop and studio, introducing us to her works and to the techniques she employs in creating them.  We will then join her for a traditional Persian dinner at her home/studio in Silver Spring, where we will continue our discussion over seasonal fare.

This event is limited in size. Current Friends of Art members will have priority through Oct 24 (you can join when sending in event attendance). You can join Wellesley FOA online at
