Wellesley Friends of Art: A Home Studio Visit with Painter Helen Zughaib

Helen Zughaib is a Lebanese-American painter whose work focuses on cultural tradition, regional developments, hope, war and the status of women and children.  She feels a responsibility to be a meaningful observer of both Arab and American cultures. Whether depicting delights or sober reflections, her style is varied from abstract, to figurative, and to retro-pop.  While her primary medium is gouache, she also uses pen on board, repurposed objects, and fabrics.  Zughaib recently had 2 solo shows: Conflict Within, at the University of Maryland University College andStories My Father Told Me, at the Arab American National Museum.  She has been a U.S. Cultural Envoy, and the Library of Congress holds five of her paintings.
Her artwork is displayed throughout her home and studio.  Please note: there are three graduated flights of stairs in her home.
